Endocrinology

Akron General's Endocrinologists are specially trained to recognize and treat gland and hormone problems by helping to restore the natural balance of hormones. Our endocrinologists treat many conditions, including: diabetes, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, metabolic disorders, hormonal imbalances, sexual dysfunction, menopause, osteoporosis, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, infertility and reproductive problems, birth control, cancers of the glands, adrenal and pituitary disorders, and more.

The endocrine system is a complex system of glands, which are organs that make hormones. Hormones control reproduction, metabolism, growth and development. Hormones also help provide the proper amount of energy and nutrition your body needs to function. The endocrine glands include the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, ovaries, testes, adrenal, pituitary and hypothalamus.
