Hand Health

Specialists at Akron General's Orthopaedic & Rehab Center are skilled in treating a broad range and complexity of orthpaedic disorders, including those of the hands. Some patients can find relief through surgical options, which can be done on an inpatient or outpatient basis, depending on the complexity of the surgery and needs of the patient.

Our specialists are experienced in treating hand disorders including:

  • Arthritis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Mallet Finger
  • Buttonhole Deformity
  • Inflammatory Osteoarthritis
  • Dupuytren's Contracture
  • Bone Spurs
  • Bone Cysts

Patients with carpal tunnel syndrome can sometimes benefit from Occupational Therapy to help them become or remain independent. Our occupational therapists provide state-of-the-art care for hand injuries or disorders and work with people of all ages to help them relearn the skills to return them to productive and satisfying lives.

Patients are usually referred to an orthopaedic surgeon by their physician. Talk to your physician about treatment options that are right for you and about choosing an orthopaedic specialist.
