The Akron General Development Foundation Board of Trustees is comprised of 25 community leaders who oversee the management of the Foundation. A permanent trust was established to support the Foundation's operation, while a restricted trust was created to support donor-designated funds.
Both funds, managed by local financial institutions, are invested to obtain the highest, yet safest, yield possible. Interest is accrued to each individual account and used according to the donor-restricted purpose. This means that your donation, including the interest earned on the account, goes toward your fund of choice. Requests for funding support are made by the individual departments of Akron General Medical Center or by the Board of Trustees. Requests have been as large as $2 million for the linear accelerator, or as little as $25 for a coffee pot on the maternity unit. To date, Akron General's Development Foundation has provided more than $90 million to various programs and services. Your gifts have made this possible.
