Objectives:
-
To provide the student with exposure to the specialized
treatment of chronic wound therapy.
Description:
-
Work with the Wound Center team (orthopaedic surgery,
plastic surgery, dermatology, vascular surgery, nursing and orthotic services)
in care for hard-to-heal wounds. Wounds may be related to diabetes, non-healing
wounds from trauma/surgery, or from the long-term effects of
radiation/medication.

Gain knowledge in special wound treatment and dressings,
rehabilitation therapy, nutrition services, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and
diabetes education.
