Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Coding & Reimbursement, the Coding Technician is responsible for coding inpatient and/or outpatient records using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 to gather statistical information and optimize reimbursement. Utilizes various computer systems to review and enter information for statistics and billing.
Qualifications: Currently credentialed by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and eligible for certification or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and eligible for certification or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must obtain credentials within one year. Successful completion of AGMC's Coding Technician test. Ability to perform data entry proficiently using various medical record software programs. Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to details.
