Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Revenue Cycle, the Coordinator, Billing is responsible for all billing and collection practices to ensure maximum cash flow and minimize days in accounts receivable.•Completes accurate registration of all patient accounts.
•Completes electronic and paper claim submission and works electronic claim rejections.
•Reviews and appeals payments, adjustments or denials that are not within governmental and/or third party payor contractual agreements.
•Generates and sends patient statements, corrects address changes.
•Handles customer and payor phone calls. Demonstrates excellent customer service.
•Prepares and sends collection account data. Posts insurance, patient and collection payments timely and accurately. Conducts accounts receivable follow up.
•Processes patient and insurance refunds.
•Prepares daily and monthly balancing reports for AGHS finance department.
•Participates in development of billing manual and cross training co-workers and office staff. Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations.
•Processes all insurance referral and pre-certification requests in a timely, efficient manner.
•Utilizes on line payor resources to efficiently complete tasks.
•Identifies problem situations, gathers information and presents possible solutions. Reports potential compliance issues to Compliance Officer.
•Completes annual on-going competency requirements. Attends continuing education programs and completes mandatory training in order to maintain certification/licensure, department specific requirements and professional growth.
•Follows health system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge and safety.
Qualifications: High school graduate or the equivalent, Associate's degree preferred. Three years billing experience. Knowledge of medical information systems and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Excel/Word). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain positive relationships with providers peers and administration. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and responsibilities.
