Audiology

We understand how important it is to experience the sounds of life - a loved one's laugh or a grandchild's first word. Unfortunately, at least 24 million Americans have abnormal hearing and approximately 30 percent of people over the age of 60 have some degree of hearing impairment. Our goal is to work together with our patients and their families to evaluate hearing loss, provide solutions and offer support.

The experienced and caring audiology staff at Akron General provides individualized treatment for patients with hearing and balance disorders. We also encourage family members and friends to participate in the treatment process in order to learn about ways to effectively communicate with hearing-impaired loved ones.

If you or someone you love is having communication problems, experiencing ringing or noises in the ears, dizzy spells, balance problems or a sense of fullness or discomfort in the ears, see your primary care physician. He or she may refer you to an Akron General audiologist for diagnostic testing, evaluation and, if necessary, treatment.
