Whether there is trauma, like car crash, or surgery, such as hip replacement, Akron General's Physical Therapy can provide both inpatient and outpatient programs. Our team has over 150 years of combined experience and includes licensed physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. Akron General offers the most up-to-date techniques and treatments to help patients feel better faster and increase their level of mobility - whether jogging around the block, or making it the stairs is the goal.
Moving More with Less Pain
Akron General physical therapists evaluate and treat patients with impairments, functional limitations, pain and disability. We establish a plan of treatment to restore patients to their highest level of functioning in activities of daily living, thus improving their household and community mobility. Our physical therapists use heat, cold, water and electricity along with therapeutic exercise, massage, mobilization and manipulation of soft tissues and joints to help our patients reach their individual goals for mobility.
An important part of our plan for increasing mobility includes patient and family education, like our total-joint-replacement class. This program is offered for patients and their family members to better prepare for the procedure and to help the patient recover at home.
Akron General's physical therapists are licensed by the state of Ohio and are required to complete continuing education training in order to stay current with standard physical therapy practice.
Comprehensive Occupational Therapy services are also available through Akron General.
