You practice hard and compete even harder. Move your game to the next level with sports performance training. Semi-private group training and one-on-one coaching from our degreed and certified staff will help you take it to the next level - helping you ignite, excel and achieve.
Our center is geared toward improving the performance of dedicated athletes at the youth, high school, college and professional level.
A sports performance program can be beneficial for athletes of all ages, skill level and athletic ability.
IGNITE We help athletes from all sports ignite by working on their speed, power, agility and strength. Our training programs have been scientifically developed and proven by our nationally recognized coaching staff. (See Coaches, below)
EXCEL Our strength and power development program helps athletes achieve the explosiveness and strength to excel in their sport. It has three main components - Olympic lifts, squats and core stability.
Our program focuses on speed, balance, coordination and dynamic flexibility. An additional benefit of this type of training is injury prevention.
ACHIEVE State-of-the-Art equipment combined with the knowledge of our highly skilled and credentialed staff, will help clients excel to meet their goal of becoming a better, more competitive athlete.
Studies have shown that youth who participate in sports are self-confident and more satisfied with their physical appearance than those who do not.
Results are charted monthly using the following testing:

10-yard sprint

Coach Amanda Kephart has been training athletes for over three years. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USA Weightlifting Club Coach and certified in First Aid/CPR. Prior to working as the Head Sports Performance Coach at the Akron General Health & Wellness center - North, Coach Kephart worked as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she worked with over 230 Division 1 athletes from the school's 13 sports. She has also worked with the men's and women's basketball teams and softball team at The University of Akron and trained under Director of Sports Performance Craig Sowers. Coach Kephart has her Masters in Exercise Physiology from The University of Akron and is an All-American in Collegiate Racquetball.

Coach Burandt is highly educated professional in the field of Strength and Conditioning. His professional history includes:
Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at The University of Akron.
Sports Performance Coach at the Sports Performance Institute.
Coach Burandt has worked with hundreds of Division 1 athletes and many professional athletes. He has two Masters Degrees: one in Sport Science and Coaching and one in Exercise Physiology and Adult Fitness. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USA Weightlifting Club Coach and certified in First Aid & CPR.
Anthony Colarusso, BA, CSCS, USAW SPC Head Sports Performance Coach Akron General Health & Wellness Center - Green
Coach Anthony Colarusso has coached in both public and private sector settings for a number of years. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, and is certified in both First Aid and CPR. Coach Colarusso earned his Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science at Baldwin-Wallace College. He has a passion for working with athletes of all ages and ability levels who are looking to improve their athletic performance.
