Lodi Community Hospital Offers a Special Program for Special Kids
Aquatic Therapy is one of many options for families of children with special needs to help promote motor, cognitive and social development. Water provides buoyancy and resistance that can help improve strength, coordination, range of motion and muscle tone. For children and adults with developmental disabilities, aquatic activities also help improve sensory integration and social participation. Lodi Community Hospital is now offering a free one-hour aquatic therapy class held at Hawthorne Suites Ltd., 5025 Park Ave. West, Seville, on Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. Classes began June 16 and run through August 18, from 1-2 p.m.
The class is open for those ages 5-18 who can actively participate and follow basic instruction. Children with a variety of diagnoses, including cerebral palsy, developmental delay, autism, genetic disorders, Down Syndrome, Rett Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and orthopaedic impairments, can benefit from the sessions. For more information or to schedule an assessment, please contact Christi Banasek, Manager, Lodi Community Hospital Rehabilitation Services, 330-948-5549.
