Akron General offers a convenient alternative to hospital-based behavioral healthcare.
On an average year, about 19 million Americans ages 18 to 54 years old suffer from some type of mental illness such as depression, including major depressive disorder, manic depression and dysthymia. (Source: National Institute of Mental Health)
Left untreated, depression can have a serious impact on a person's health, their family, their productivity at work and general quality of life. So, finding an effective treatment, and quickly, is important.
The Akron General Center for Behavioral Medicine & Wellness is located conveniently off of I-77 and Route 18, at the Akron General Health & Wellness Center - West. It offers an Intensive Outpatient evening program for behavioral health to help patients successfully recover from depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, thought disorders and more. Treatment is highly individualized and can include group therapy, case management, family involvement, expressive therapy, support groups, anger management and relationship issues.
We provide immediate assessment for referrals. Patients receive a detailed screening and assessment of their needs to evaluate the urgency of their condition. Every assessment receives a psychiatrist's consultation.
Referrals and Appointments
Early intervention can help people feel better physically and emotionally. A physician's referral is helpful, but not required. Patients may be self-referred or referred by a family member or friend.
