Transitional Year Residency Program

A Letter from the Director of the Transitional Year Residency Program

Thank you for your interest in the Transitional Year training program at Akron General Medical Center. Our Transitional Year training is designed to provide a broad-based preparatory experience prior to entering a chosen specialty. We also welcome students who desire additional clinical experience prior to choosing a specialty residency.

Individuals interested in careers in administration, research or the military may qualify for a transitional year program, which provides a sound foundation for future careers in these areas. The strength of our program lies in the flexibility of our curriculum. Each resident formulates a unique educational experience tailored to his or her individual goals and preferences.

If, after reviewing our Web site, you have additional questions, please contact Akron General's Department of Medical Education at 330-344-6050 or 1-800-732-2852. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Joseph A. Finocchio, MD, FACP
Program Director
