Women's Board Event
Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Women's Board has been serving the Akron community for more than 85 years, donating more than $8 million to important hospital services and clinical programs. In addition, board members volunteer at the hospital as well as serve as goodwill ambassadors for Akron General.

The Cleveland Clinic Akron General Women’s Board proudly presents its annual event, for the benefit of our devoted Cleveland Clinic Akron General caregivers. They have cared for us, now it's time for us to care for them. Let’s show them our sincere appreciation for all they have done and continue to do throughout COVID. Purchase a ticket now to enjoy an exclusive menu from four of Akron’s finest dining restaurants. Featured restaurants include Trattoria Vaccaro’s Restaurant, Fleming’s Restaurant, Ken Stewart’s Lodge and Lanning’s Restaurant.
Proceeds from this event will benefit Akron General caregivers through the Women’s Board Fund. Akron General projects supported by the Women’s Board include training for nurses, Hero Stations with healthy snacks, Center for Family Medicine's caregiver breakroom, Challenge Golf Program and nursing equipment.

Bosom Buddies
The 23rd Annual Bosom Buddies Event
The 23rd Annual Bosom Buddies Event to benefit Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Cancer Care Fund will continue with an online auction as well as an in-person event. Raising money for the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Cancer Care Fund, which provides screening, education and outreach for un-insured and underinsured cancer patients, remains the single largest charity event annually for WQMX.
The digital event will include a silent auction, 50/50 cash raffles, a breast cancer survivors page, information on scheduling your free mammogram and much more.

Light Up a Life
Our annual Light Up a Life campaign provides a meaningful way to honor loved ones during the holiday season by hanging a star on a Light Up a Life Hospice Memory Tree. Hospice Memory Trees will be at the following locations:
- Cleveland Clinic Akron General main lobby
- Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center (this location also offers a special Veterans Tree)
- Summit Mall
Hospice Memory Trees will be on display during the month of December. The safety of our patients and caregivers is our highest priority. Find up-to-date information on our visitation policies.

Ruhlin Clays Classic
Annual Ruhlin Clay Classic
Thank you to the Ruhlin Construction Company and everyone who joined us Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Hill ‘n Dale Club. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefited the Patient Assistance Fund of Cleveland Clinic Akron General. We look forward to another successful event in 2022 which will be held August 23, 2022. More details will be available closer to that date.
Past Projects
Since its inception, the Akron General Foundation has raised in excess of $85 Million. Last year alone, the Foundation provided over $3.4 million to Akron General for capital purchases, new equipment, facility improvements medical education.
Designated funds were established to support a variety of programs and services at Akron General and Lodi Hospital. Past annual campaigns by the Foundation have provided significant support to:
- Department of Surgery
- Clinical Research
- Nursing Education
- The McDowell Cancer Center
- The Breast Health Center
- Lodi Hospital
- Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service
Department of Surgery
Funds from a past Annual Campaign aided in upgrading two operating rooms for improved efficiency and in renovating the Ambulatory Care Center's operating suites to accommodate Obstetrics/Gynecology. Another enhancement to surgery through past Campaigns was the addition of the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System. This leading-edge technology greatly improves the surgeon's ability to perform complex procedures through minimally invasive surgery. Through these improvements to the Surgery Department, Akron General is able to offer to our patients reduced length of stay following treatment and a speedy recovery to return them to healthy activity more quickly.
The Breast Health Center
The support of past Annual Campaigns helped bring together state-of-the-art digital breast technology, surgeons skilled in breast issues and a nurse navigator in one, comfortable location – the new Breast Health Center. Medical Education
The Foundation has 16 endowed Visiting Professorships covering 13 clinical areas and provides in excess of $1 million in operating support to clinical research and medical education programs each year.
State of the art Emergency Departments to better serve our patients — on our main campus and in Stow, Montrose, Green and Lodi
Our Emergency Departments feature the latest in medical technology, efficient facility design and the highest level of personal care.
Digital Mammography at Lodi Hospital
Thanks in part to past Annual Campaign supporters; Lodi Hospital offers digital mammography to area residents through the purchase of cutting edge equipment that typically cuts exam time in half and decreases turn-around time.
Comfort Care for Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service Patients
Imagine being gently lowered into a big, deep tub, surrounded by warm, circulating water. Not only is the experience enjoyable for Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) patients, it is also very therapeutic for them. After their soak, the patients are wrapped in warm towels to enhance their experience. Aching muscles are soothed, pain is eased and tension slips away. In fact, Hospice of VNS nurses report that their patients often need less pain medication after a long, warm bath. The whirlpool baths are mentioned time and again in satisfaction surveys as having been the patient’s favorite experience at the Hospice of VNS Care Center.
