Akron General Medical Center is one of Northeast Ohio's best hospitals to practice medicine because it is also one of Northeast Ohio's most comprehensive centers for learning medicine. In collaboration with Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) and other respected medical schools, Akron General offers clinical training to medical students, residents, paramedics, nurses and a variety of healthcare learners. Prospective residents may select from one of eleven training programs in various and diverse fields. The Medical Center also offers continuing medical education including memorial lectures, clinical symposiums and medical grand rounds.

Through access to a 10,000 square foot research lab and national clinical trials, physicians have the opportunity to uncover the real life issues of basic science and explore the challenges and complexities of practicing medicine. Akron General offers active clinical research programs in cardiovascular medicine, musculoskeletal, critical care medicine and emergency medicine, just to name a few.
