Objectives:
Understand the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of coronary atherosclerosis in acute myocardial infarction.
Understand the prognosis of patients who sustain and survive acute myocardial infarction.
Understand the daily care of patients with acute myocardial infarction including diet, activity, pharmacologic therapies and discharge from the hospital.
Understand the use of electrocardiography, biochemical markers and myocardial imagin in the role of care of the patient with acute myocardial infarction.
Understand the arrhythmias associated with acute myocardial infarction including left ventricular failure and mechanical complications.
Understand the indications for pulmonary catheter insertion and intra-arterial line monitoring and interpretation.
Description:
Participate in daily rounds, providing care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unite with the attending and/or house staff team.
Exposure to diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions in the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction.
Night Call/Special Requirements: Night call is optional
