Akron General’s two Health & Wellness Centers and its nationally recognized LifeStyles Fitness Program make this concept real.

The Health & Wellness Centers bring healthcare and wellness services into convenient and extremely accessible locations that help to improve the health and lives of the patients. Lifestyles is a medically supervised exercise and membership program that has won many national awards for fitness center excellence, including recognition from Club Industry Magazine as the number-one hospital-owned center in the country. Staff includes degreed athletic trainers, personal trainers and exercise physiologists, nutritionists and wellness experts.

As the area’s most committed and trusted leader in wellness, Akron General has instituted the Akron General Wellness Champion Awards. This prestigious new award will be granted to other leaders, both individual and at the corporate level, that have made major accomplishments in wellness as well as impressive strides toward improving personal health or the health of employees.

Opened in 2007, the Health & Wellness Center-North is a 96,000 square-foot structure that houses a full-service, 24 hour emergency department, diagnostics, physical therapy and Lifestyles, a national award-winning fitness program that provides members with access to three pools, sports performance center, track, free-weights, rock wall and the latest in high-tech fitness equipment.
