Akron General Named Consumer Choice Winner Again
For the 14th year, Akron General Medical Center has earned the prestigious National Research Corporation's (NRC) Consumer Choice Award. The award recognizes the nation’s top hospitals as 2010/2011 Consumer Choice Award winners and identifies hospitals which healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in more 300 markets throughout the United States. Akron General was the winner in the Akron market. This is the 15th year NRC has awarded hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing the highest quality healthcare.
Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company's Healthcare Market Guide Ticker study. Of the 3,200 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning organizations rank highest in their Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs), as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The Ticker study surveyed more than 250,000 households representing some 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.
"We are extremely proud to win this award because it recognizes the high-quality services we provide throughout our organization," said Vincent J. McCorkle, President and Chief Executive Officer of Akron General Health System. "The survey is a clear indication that Akron General has the most outstanding group of physicians, nurses and caregivers who are absolutely devoted to providing exceptional healthcare to each and every one of our patients."
NRC's Ticker Survey is the nation's largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. No other study used to measure hospital performance and preferences contains more consumer responses than NRC's study. The study has a margin of error of + or – 0.2 percent at a national level. Co-winners are named when scores fall within the statistical margin of error for a given market.
