Kaiser Permanente logoCLEVELAND — Kaiser Permanente announces that it is entering into an agreement with Akron General Health System, effective January 1, 2012, to serve Kaiser Permanente members in the Akron area. "Akron General is very pleased to partner with Kaiser Permanente," said Vincent J. McCorkle, President and CEO of Akron General Health System. "We have been the area's preeminent leader in health and wellness for nearly 20 years, and Kaiser has long been known for its preventive care model. It’s a perfect match of two organizations with similar philosophies of providing the best care to all Northeast Ohioans."

Kaiser Permanente members will benefit from this new relationship through convenient access to:

  • specialty and hospital-based services
  • ambulatory care, and
  • physical rehabilitation services
  • offered throughout Akron General Health System, including Akron General Medical Center, which was honored with the prestigious National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award; the state-of-the-art Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Institute in Cuyahoga Falls; and Lodi Community Hospital, which recently was awarded a sixth consecutive patient satisfaction award.

Ronald L. Copeland, MD, FACS, President and Executive Medical Director, Ohio Permanente Medical Group, explained that the new relationship opens the door to shared collaboration on best medical practices, wellness programs, preventive health services, and other health care initiatives. "Kaiser Permanente believes in a preventive 'plus' approach to health that enables people to thrive. The new relationship with Akron General enhances this approach."
