Hospice of VNS Announces Free Bereavement Class in July

Akron General’s Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) Center for Loss and Hope is offering a free series on "The Art of Journaling: A Road to Healing" July 9, 16 and 23 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. at the Hospice of VNS Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Copley. A journal is used to reflect upon the meaning and the significance of events in your life in an effort to find new meanings, core values and inner peace. Class participants will discover how journal writing can be a road to healing.

A free book club discussion group on "Stick a Geranium in Your Hat and Be Happy" by Barbara Johnson will be held on July 11 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. at the Hospice of VNS Care Center. "Pain is inevitable but misery is option," says Barbara Johnson. The survivor of four devastating experiences, Ms. Johnson uses wit to find joy in the midst of it all. She shows that though pain is inevitable to us all, we can choose to see the flowers instead of the weeds. Please read this true and moving story in advance to engage in the discussion of this book.

Both classes are open to the community at no charge. Enrollment is limited, so please call to reserve a place. To register, or for more information on either group, or on other Hospice of VNS Bereavement support programs or individual grief counseling, please call 330-668-4662 or 800-335-1455, Ext. 4662.
