Akron General’s Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) Center for Loss and Hope is offering a free series on "Men Facing Grief" August 6, 13 and 20 from 5–6:30 p.m. at the Hospice of VNS Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Copley. Men in general seem to find it more difficult than women to recognize and deal, with grief. Oftentimes, men even have a hard time acknowledging their need for support when they have experienced a death of a loved one. This group, for men only, seeks to provide ideas for helping men heal from a loss.
A community outreach program on grief, "When Will I Stop Hurting: Grief and Healing," will be held August 7, 14 and 21 from 1–3:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 636 West Park Avenue, Barberton. The class will focus on understanding grief basics and how to support yourself or your loved one’s through the grieving process.
"The Role of Humor in Grief Recovery" will be held on August 8 from 2–3:30 p.m. at the Hospice of VNS Care Center. Along the grief journey it is important for us to cope with our grief with the goal of restoring some sense of joy and well-being to our lives. Using your sense of humor is a principal element in the healing process. Discover ways to add justifiable humor to your grief journey in this class.
All classes are open to the community at no charge. Enrollment is limited, so please call to reserve a place. To register, or for more information on either group, or on other Hospice of VNS Bereavement support programs or individual grief counseling, please call 330-668-4662 or 800-335-1455, Ext. 4662.
