Cancer is usually unpredictable and unexpected, and every type develops at a different pace. The good news is that cancer detected in its earliest stages has the best chance for successful treatment – and the best way to detect it early is through screening. Akron General is pleased to offer a free screening for cervical cancer to women who are uninsured or underinsured.
Cervical cancer was once a common cause of cancer death in women, but the Pap test has led to a significant decline in the number of deaths as the test detects early signs of this cancer. A free Pap test and pelvic exam will be provided for uninsured and underinsured women on Saturday, October 20, from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Akron General Women’s Health Clinic, 676 South Broadway Street, Akron. Please call 330-344-AGMC (2462) to make an appointment for this life-saving screening.
