Akron General Cancer Center Receives National Honor
The American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer (CoC) recently awarded the Akron General McDowell Cancer Center with its Outstanding Achievement Award. Akron General was the only hospital in Akron, and one of just nine statewide, to receive this recognition.
The CoC award recognizes cancer centers across the country that strive for excellence in providing quality cancer care to patients. On-site evaluations by CoC physicians closely examine seven standards for distinction, including leadership, data management and clinical services. Ninety-five programs across the country received the award this year. In total, nearly 500 programs were surveyed.

"This award reflects the dedication of our entire multidisciplinary cancer team to provide the highest level of care to our patients. Everyone on our team shares in this success."
