Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy is offered at four convenient outpatient locations. Patients need referral from their physician to participate in Sports & Physical Therapy. We accept most major health insurance plans. Because reimbursement policies vary, please consult your specific plan for more details.
Occasionally, insurance coverage for physical therapy will end before the patient has reached all of his or her therapy goals. Our Phase II Rehabilitation program allows patients to continue their therapeutic exercise program under their therapist's supervision on a self-pay basis.
Orthotics
Our therapists and trainers professionally mold othotics -- foot and arch supports or knee braces -- to protect weak joints and to correct biomechanical problems of the back and lower extremities. We also mold protective sports pads and splints for shoulders, hands and fingers.

On-Site Sports-Medicine Coverage
Our physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists provide on-site medical coverage year-round at high school and community athletic events. We also provide fitness instructors and therapists for the worksite.
Pre-Season Physicals
We offer pre-season physical screenings for high school athletes every spring and fall. Students receive complete orthopedic evaluations, including musculoskeletal exams and flexibility checks by physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists. We also provide cardiovascular tests and body fat measurements for athletes as requested.
Our pre-season physicals require a nominal fee and include:
- Medical history
- Musculoskeletal screening by certified/licensed Akron General Sports & Physical Therapy staff
- OHSAA-compliant medical exam by Akron General Sports & Physical Therapy physician
- Written evaluation sent to parents

Akron General Sports & Physical Therapy provides personalized, professional sports medicine care for high school athletic and coaching staffs and student athletes. We tailor our services to your specific needs including full-time and part-time event athletic training coverage, student educational seminars, pre-season physicals and screenings and first aid seminars.
We believe that education is a vital aspect of improving student athletes' health and performance. That's why we provide numerous, customized seminars for both student athletes and their parents. We also sponsor a student sports medicine club for those interested in athletic training or sports medicine as a career.
