Learning that you or someone you love has cancer can be one of the most difficult things you'll ever go through. Akron General's McDowell Cancer Center, located right here in Northeast Ohio, understands the concerns and needs of our patients and their families. Our experienced team of oncology and hematology experts works together to take cancer treatment to the next level - treating the patient, not just the disease.
Our Ohio cancer services program is approved by the American College of Surgeons through its Commission on Cancer (CoC) and in 2009, it honored the Akron General McDowell Cancer Center with its Outstanding Achievement Award. Akron General was the only hospital in Akron, and one of just nine statewide, to receive this recognition. The McDowell Cancer Center is also a member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) - the leading national multidisciplinary organization that defines quality cancer care.
Akron General now offers minimally invasive surgery using the state-of-the-art da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System. Not all procedures are appropriate for robotic surgery. Learn more about robotic surgery at Akron General and view a list of physicians currently performing robotic procedures.
