Finding the Best Care

Center has a history of superior clinical results in treating damaged joints - when there's pain due to arthritis, birth defects, damaged cartilage, and traumas, such as car crashes and falls. The goal of any joint replacement is to provide a higher level of functioning and mobility so that patients can put their entire lives back into motion.

Our specialists lead the way in orthopaedic research and innovation. Akron General orthopaedic surgeons performed one of the first ceramic-on-ceramic hip replacements in the country - a new type of longer-lasting hip implant now available to younger patients. Our patients benefit from newer techniques, less pain and more durable implants.

Our specialists are skilled in replacements of the:

  • Shoulder
  • Hip
  • Ankle
  • Elbow
  • Knee

We also offer a unique education program for patients who are scheduled to have total hip or total knee joint replacement surgery. Designed for patients and caregivers, this program can help families know what to expect after surgery, during recovery and rehabilitation.

Orthopaedic Rehab is available at Akron General Medical Center, and also four other convenient community locations along with Sports & Physical Therapy at the Akron General Health & Wellness Center - West, the Akron General Green, Hudson and Tallmadge Health Centers.

Patients are usually referred to an orthopaedic surgeon by their physician. Talk to your physician about treatment options that are right for you and about choosing an orthopaedic specialist.
