Orthopaedic Oncology

Our skilled orthopaedic surgeons work with cancer specialists to treat or remove cancerous bone tumors, such as osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma. Working together means that patients receive a comprehensive treatment plan that includes follow-up care and additional cancer therapies, such as radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Through research and innovation our specialists continue to offer cutting-edge procedures to remove tumors and reconstruct the bone, when needed. Akron General's Orthpaedic & Rehab Center also treats bone cysts and tumors of the bone and cartilage - more common than malignant types of bone cancer.

Patients are usually referred to an orthopaedic surgeon by their physician. Talk to your physician about treatment options that are right for you and about choosing an orthopaedic specialist.
