This five-year program is a combined NEOUCOM-affliated program using Akron General Medical Center, Summa Health System (Akron City Hospital), and Akron Children's Hospital. It is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Two positions are offered annually to candidates via the AUA Match.

The program includes one year of pre-urologic training in General Surgery, followed by four years of managing urological cases in hospitals and outpatient clinics. The program also includes private practice experience. Residents are ultimately responsible for all house and clinic cases, including operative and diagnostic experience. A supervised six-month rotation at Akron Children's Hospital as chief resident of the Pediatric Urology service is included in the fourth year.

Required weekly conferences include Urology grand rounds, imaging conference and core curriculum. All residents attend monthly AUA Updates and journal clubs. Other meetings included in the urology educational program are monthly pathology conferences, M&M presentations, and multi-discliplinary pediatric conferences.

Active clinical research is encouraged. Financial support is provided to attend national and local conferences. Completion of the program provides eligibility to sit for the American Board of Urology Qualifying Examination.
