Objectives:

  • To expose the student to concepts and techniques involved in the management of high-risk obstetrical patients.

Description:

  • Be exposed to principles of risk assessment in obstetrics, techniques of antepartum fetal evaluation, the ante-, intra- and postpartum care of women with medical obstetrical complication of pregnancy in the office and hospital setting.
  • Do patient work-ups, direct patient management under supervision and present cases.
  • Prepare a written or oral report dealing with a selected topic in high-risk obstetrics. Topic selection is subject to faculty approval.

Night Call/Special Requirements: No specific night call rotation is required; however, the student will be expected to attend the deliveries of high-risk patients which may occur outside normal working hours.
