Objectives:

  • To provide instruction in basic Sports Medicine knowledge and physical exam skills, with emphasis on musculoskeletal injuries.
  • To stimulate interest in the study of various topics related to Sports Medicine.
  • To understand the rehabilitation principles involved in Sports Medicine.
  • To introduce student to the principles of athletic conditioning and exercise response.

Description:

  • Observe office hours.
  • Assist in surgery on cases deemed appropriate.
  • Provide end-of-term oral report (5 - 10 minutes) on Sports Medicine topic.
  • Typical daily schedule: Four weeks devoted to Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, including office work and hospital-based surgical care.
  • Attendance at athletic events and other institute-based events is mandatory.

Night Call/Special Requirements: Attendance at evening athletic events
