If you are having a procedure or surgery performed, many times you will be required to have pre-surgical testing. It will provide additional information for you physician and help your care team ensure that you get the best care possible.

Helpful Tips for Pre-Surgical Testing
You should have received a copy of Akron General's helpful booklet Your Guide to Surgery or ask your surgeon's office for a copy. You'll find answers to questions you may have and additional instructions.

All appointments are scheduled or cancelled through your surgeon's office.

Complete the Health History Form, enclosed in Your Guide to Surgery booklet, and bring it to your appointment along with physician orders and test results done elsewhere.

Your pre-operative instructions will include:

• " A review of the booklet "Your Guide to Surgery"
• " An opportunity to have your questions answered and concerns addressed

If you have advance medical directives (living wills, durable power of attorney) please bring them with you. These are formal documents that state your choices for health care or name someone to make these choices for you.
