Occupational Therapist - Psychiatry - 20 hours per week

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the director and supervisor, the occupational therapist evaluates and treats patients, communicates to referral sources, provides daily documentation and marketing services. Job Duties: Evaluates and treats occupational therapy patients anc communicates to referral sources about patient's initial condition, progress, and discharge disposition. Completes patient related and non patient related documentation in a timely manner. Delegates and supervises the patient care of COTA's, support staff and students.. Markets services to patients, referral sources, and the public. Forms and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with patients and staff. Practices team work. Effectively organizes work assignments and time, without compromising quality patient care, to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. Achieves personal and professional development through participation in continuing education, inservices, orientation programs, and student programs. Maintains an orderly and safe work environment. Keeps treatment areas and department clean and orderly. Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Age Specific Criteria: Adolescent: Explains therapy, procedures, and treatments to adolescent patient and parents/caregivers using terminology understandable to both. Adolescent: Assesses patient physical/mental status with allowance for patient age, height, and weight, and modifies treatment accordingly. Adolescent: Assesses patient psychosocial behavior and modifies patient/therapist interaction and communication accordingly. Geriatric: Assesses patient physical/mental status with allowance for patient age and level of conditioning, and modifies treatment accordingly. Geriatric: Gives elderly patient enough time to process instruction, to express needs or wants, and to perform the activity. Geriatric: Recognizes patient level of psychological development and modifies approach accordingly. Geriatric: Evaluates barriers to a safe return home and helps the elderly patient to decide upon techniques, equipment and support persons to overcome those barriers. Pediatric: Explains therapy, procedures, and treatments to pediatric patient and parents/caregivers using terminologiy understandable to both. Pediatric: Assesses patient physical/mental status with allowance for patient age, height, and weight, and modifies treatment accordingly. Pediatric: Assesses patient psychosocial behavior and modifies patient/therapist interaction and communication accordingly.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with a current license to practice in Ohio. Previous experience preferred. Ability to establish and maintain courteous cooperative and respectful relations with patients and staff.
