Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator, Cancer Registry, the Coding Technician, Cancer Registry is responsible for assisting with the documentation of all cancer cases diagnosed and/or treated at the hospital to generate date used for determining optimal care and treatment of cancer patients. Job Duties: Records all appropriate patient and follow up information in regards to disease process. Updates all research and/or registry patient files as required; assists with lifetime follow up. Identifies all applicable cancer cases that meet eligibility. Performs patient care evaluation studies as necessary. Completes required continuing education hours. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in applied science. Certified or certified eligible as Registered Health Information Technician or Certified Cancer Registrar. Previous Cancer Registry experience. Knowledge of computer software systems and computer terminals essential. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
