Cancer Clinical Trials Access

Akron General participates in National Cancer Institute (NCI) sponsored clinical trials, as well as pharmaceutical industry sponsored trials. Membership in six NCI cooperative groups provides our patients with access to a wide menu of clinical trials. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, the accrediting body for cancer centers nationwide recommends a 6% accrual rate for commendation status. Total clinical trial registrations at Akron General Medical Center represent nearly an 12.8% accrual rate of total analytic cases.
