Now in its 21st year, Akron General and Main Street Gourmet’s Muffins for Mammograms program has raised more than $600,000, which has, in turn, been used to provide free mammograms for more than 8,000 uninsured women throughout Northeast Ohio.
This year’s Muffins for Mammograms event will feature the two most popular muffins, blueberry and French toast, which are available for advance order of $150 or more online at www.akrongeneral.org/muffins, and will be delivered October 16 to locations within Summit County. Orders must be received by September 27. Same-day muffin sales of smaller quantities also will be held October 16 from 7-10 a.m. at five convenient Akron General Health System locations:
- Akron General Medical Center, 400 Wabash Ave., Akron
- Akron General Health & Wellness Center—West, 4125 Medina Rd, Montrose
- Akron General Health & Wellness Center—North, 4300 Allen Rd., Stow
- Akron General Health & Wellness Center – Green, 1940 Town Park Blvd., Uniontown
- Lodi Community Hospital, 225 Elyria St., Lodi
The purchase of 42 muffins covers the cost of one mammogram with this program. An infographic with more statistics about the Muffins program is available for download here
The Muffins for Mammograms program distributes breast health information with the muffins and raises much-needed funds to pay for mammograms throughout the year for women who are uninsured. Akron General and Main Street Gourmet, with the help of the WQMX 94.9 FM Bosom Buddies Program, are happy to be marking the program’s 21st successful year. If you have any questions or need additional information, please call 330-344-7170. For more information on qualifying for a free mammogram, call 330-344-5760 or 330-344-BRST (2778).
