Akron General Visiting Nurse Service Equipment & Supplies (VNSES) is hosting a sleep therapy open house on October 2 from 2 – 5 p.m. at 160 Opportunity Parkway, Suite 101, Akron. The open house is designed to provide support and education to people who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA is a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. The most noticeable sign of obstructive sleep apnea is snoring, but other symptoms may include increased excessive daytime sleepiness, memory loss, hypertension and depression.
Licensed Respiratory Therapists will give a presentation a 3 p.m. on sleep apnea and how it affects the cardiovascular system. Licensed respiratory therapists will also offer personalized CPAP and BIPAP mask fittings and pressure checks. Refreshments will be served and convenient, free parking is available.
