Students in grades six through 12 can learn more about careers in health care by attending HealthCare in Progress’ Student Health Care Career Awareness Night on November 6 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at North High School, 985 Gorge Blvd., Akron. Professionals representing many health care career areas will be present to talk to students, parents, teachers and guidance counselors. More than 25 exhibits and demonstrations will focus on careers in biomedical engineering, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, sports medicine, medical research, physical, occupational and speech therapy, respiratory care, social work, and other fields.
Students can take a look inside a real ambulance and a simulation bus to see what it’s like to respond to 9-1-1 medical emergencies, perform a surgery or give CPR. Information will also be available on teen volunteer opportunities at Akron hospitals and Akron Public Schools’ career education programs.
Each student will receive a free drawstring backpack and career information kit. Snacks and beverages will be served. For more information, please call 330-761-3131 or visit apscareers.com.
