More than 280 people attended the annual Akron General Women’s Board Gala on Saturday, November 9th at the Akron Hilton/Fairlawn. This year’s benefit is recognized as a huge success as underwriting reached records levels and total fundraising is expected to top out over $125,000.
Attendees experienced an elegant cocktail reception just prior to a sumptuous dinner, and the evening capped out with a rousing live auction.
Akron General Health System President and CEO, Thomas L. “Tim” Stover, MD, MBA, addressed the gathering and highlighted the life-saving work taking place at the Akron General McDowell Cancer Center and the leadership development efforts of the Tony Gorant Community Leadership Institute, both of which were beneficiaries of the evening’s fundraising.
Women’s Board president Becky Calaway and gala chairman Deb Faber Cailor also spoke and provided a warm and engaging welcome. An informational video highlighting patient survivorship at the McDowell Cancer Center and the leadership development opportunities afforded by the Tony Gorant Community Leadership Institute was the centerpiece of the evening presentation.
