Akron General Health System is among the 2013 Guardian of Excellence Award winners as named by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing facilities that consistently achieved the 95th percentile of performance in Patient Satisfaction. Akron General received this prestigious award for patient satisfaction scores at its Emergency Departments located at the Akron General Health & Wellness Centers in Stow, Green and West Akron.
“We are proud to receive this most important distinction,” said Thomas L. “Tim” Stover, MD, MBA, President and CEO, Akron General Health System. “At Akron General, we work hard to ensure that each patient experience is the most prompt, courteous and high quality clinical visit available anywhere. This award is indicative of the success of the efforts of our Emergency Department doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.”
Akron General’s Emergency Departments consistently measure among the nation’s best in short patient wait times, a short “total length of stay” in the Emergency Department, and outstanding clinical outcomes.
The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a health care industry symbol of achievement. Fewer than 5% of all Press Ganey clients reach this threshold and consistently maintain it for the one-year reporting period. Press Ganey partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities, including more than half of all U.S. hospitals, to measure and improve the patient experience.
