Building on its mission to improve the health and lives of the people and communities it serves, Akron General Health System is expanding the reach of its long-time, weekly radio program by airing it on NewsRadio WTAM 1100 in Cleveland, Ohio. Starting January 4, 2014, the new, hour-long Akron General Health Connection with Dr. Debbie Plate will be heard every Saturday morning at 7 a.m. on WTAM.
“I am thrilled to be able to reach out and help a wider audience understand the complexities of health care, and help even more people improve their overall health,” said Dr. Plate. “For the last five years, I have been privileged to be welcomed into peoples’ homes over the radio. I look forward to continuing our current audience relationships and reaching out to many new listeners throughout Northeastern Ohio.” Since 2008, Dr. Plate has been the host of the Akron General Good Health Hour, heard on WAKR Radio in Akron, Ohio.
Akron General Health Connection will provide listeners with late breaking medical news and information. The program will feature special guests, invite medical questions from listeners, and provide a forum for timely discussion on pertinent health issues.
“I’m pleased to have Akron General Health Connection added to our weekend line-up and I’m looking forward to having our listeners get to know Dr. Debbie Plate,” said Ray Davis, Program Director for NewsRadio WTAM.
In addition to the traditional over-the-air broadcast, the program will also be available in real time worldwide on the I-Heart Radio app. Program podcasts can be accessed through WTAM.com. WTAM’s signal can be heard throughout the northern half of Ohio.
Debbie Plate, DO, is a board-certified family physician practicing at Akron General's Center for Family Medicine. She is also the clinical associate director of the family medicine residency program at Akron General, as well as a professor of family medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
