Akron General, in partnership with Get Covered America, will host an Affordable Care Act Enrollment event on Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Akron General Medical Center’s Conference Center Auditorium, 1 Akron General Ave. (formerly 400 Wabash Ave.), Akron. Free, unbiased, certified enrollment assisters will be available to assist individuals in enrolling in quality, affordable health coverage through the federal Health Insurance Marketplace. Nine out of 10 uninsured people will qualify for financial assistance to purchase private insurance or free Medicaid. Under Medicaid expansion, individuals or families with a household income up to 138 percent of the Federal Poverty level are now eligible to apply for Medicaid. The event is free, but space is limited so please RSVP to 330-344-2462 or at getcoveredamerica.org. If you are unable to attend and need assistance with enrollment, please call Summit County Public Health at 330-923-4891. The last day to sign up for health insurance and avoid a tax penalty is March 31.
Beginning March 4, Akron General Medical Center will have a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) based onsite to assist patients and others with the Health Insurance Exchange and Expanded Medicaid. The CACs are from Summit County Public Health and have been trained to help Ohioans apply for coverage by providing information and facilitating enrollment in Qualified Health Plans and insurance affordability programs. Their training ensures that they comply with privacy and security laws and other program standards. CACs will be available at Akron General Medical Center’s Ambulatory Care Center, 1 Akron General Ave., Akron, first floor, registration window #5, on March 4 and 18 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and the Medical Center’s main lobby on March 12 and 27 from 4-8 p.m.
