Akron General Offers Informative Class on Palliative Care

Join Gillian Myers, a palliative care clinical nurse specialist and a member of the Akron General Inpatient Palliative Care Team, as she discusses “Integrating Palliative Care through the Continuum of Life” on April 17 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Akron General Health & Wellness Center – West, 4125 Medina Rd., Akron.

Palliative care provides symptom management and support for you and your loved ones when faced with the challenges of a serious illness, such as cancer, heart disease, COPD, liver failure, kidney failure, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and ALS. Unlike hospice, people receiving palliative care may have a life expectancy of greater than six months and may continue to receive chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other aggressive medical treatments.
