Overview

Overview

Cleveland Clinic Akron General offers primary care throughout the area and strives to provide complete, continuous and compassionate care to our patients. We are committed to helping patients of all ages achieve good health and improve the quality of their lives.

Our comprehensive and caring team includes a network of family physicians, internal medicine physicians, advanced practiced providers and much more.

Primary care doctors are typically the first medical point of contact for patients, helping to manage your overall health, diagnose new illnesses and manage chronic diseases. Within primary care there are two types of doctors. Family medicine doctors treat patients of all ages, while internal medicine doctors primarily treat adults. Should you need specialized care, your primary care doctor can refer you to a specialist who will work collaboratively with your doctor to ensure that you receive the best possible care. Also, as your health advocate, your primary care doctor can help outline important health screenings and preventive measures that will keep you well.

A physician is on-call at all times in the event that a serious illness develops. Patients should call the office as soon as possible. After hours, an answering service will take your call and relay your message to the on-call physician, who will call to assist you with your problem. This on-call service is only for emergencies that can't wait until regular office hours.

Prescription refills, test results and other routine requests are handled only during office hours.

At each appointment, please be sure to bring your insurance card, a list of your medications and a photo ID. Co-pays are expected at the time of service.
